Genuine Volvo Penta VCS-2 Gen-2 coolant, supplied ready-mixed at a forty/sixty ratio in a 20-litre container. It is the orange next-generation VCS formulation, distinct from the earlier yellow VCS coolant, and must not be mixed with it. Volvo Penta rates it for the extended service interval published for VCS-2 Gen-2; check the interval for your own engine before topping up or changing.

• Coolant that has gone brown, rusty, cloudy or has sludge, jelly or oily film in the header tank or filler neck
• Level that keeps needing topping up, or a system that has been repeatedly topped with water so the mix strength is no longer known
• Coolant of unknown or mixed specification in the system, which cannot be relied on for corrosion protection whatever it looks like

🛠️ Service Notes

• This is supplied ready mixed — use it exactly as it comes out of the container, do not dilute it further, and never top up with plain water
• Top up only with the same coolant specification; do not mix it with a coolant of a different type, since mixing organic-acid and conventional coolants can gel and sludge a cooling system
• If the engine is currently on a different coolant specification, drain and flush the system thoroughly and fill with one type rather than mixing the two
• Fill slowly with the system vented at the highest bleed point, run the engine up to temperature, then let it cool and recheck the level
• Renew at the interval given in the maintenance schedule for your engine — the corrosion and cavitation protection is what expires, and it does so long before the coolant looks bad
