🔌 Function

Supplies the cylinder liner with the seals and fittings needed to install it.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Bore scored, glazed or worn beyond limits
  • High oil consumption and crankcase blow-by
  • Coolant leaking past the liner seals into the sump
  • Cavitation pitting on the liner's coolant side
  • Liner protrusion outside specification on measurement

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Check the engine serial number — this covers the later build only
  • Liner protrusion must be measured and set to specification, or the head gasket will fail
  • Cavitation pitting means the coolant inhibitor was depleted, so address the coolant as well as the liner
