🔧 Product Description

Genuine Volvo Penta lower gear from the Marine Propulsion group, listed for one application on the DPI family. Volvo lists it at ratio 1.59, which is what separates it from the other lower gears in this range.

🚤 Compatibility

  • Engine Family: DPI

Full model list at the end of this description.

⚙️ Key Features

  • Ratio 1.59
  • Marine Propulsion group
  • One application, on the DPI-A drive

🔌 Function

A lower gear set turns the drive from the vertical shaft through to the propeller shaft at the ratio it is cut for.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Whine or growl from the lower unit that rises with speed
  • Metal particles on the drain plug magnet at an oil change
  • Oil milky or over-full, showing water ingress
  • Teeth chipped, pitted or worn to a point on inspection

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Check the ratio as well as the part number, because 1.59 is not interchangeable with the other ratios
  • Check the part number against the parts diagram for your drive before ordering
  • Renew the seals and refill with the specified gear oil on assembly
