⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Oil misting or an oily film in the intake, charge air ducting or breather outlet, with oil consumption and no external leak to account for it
• Crankcase pressure pushing oil out past the dipstick, filler cap or engine seals
• Fumes or oil vapour escaping from the breather system into the engine space
• The trap or its insert found saturated, sludged or completely blocked when opened up

🛠️ Service Notes

• Renew the trap or its filter insert at the interval in your engine's maintenance schedule, and whenever the crankcase ventilation system has been running blocked
• Check the whole ventilation route while access is open — the hose from the valve cover, the oil drain or return back to the crankcase, and the outlet to the intake or breather
• Fit new gaskets, O-rings and hose clips on every joint disturbed, and make sure the drain path is clear so separated oil returns instead of pooling in the trap
• Route the hoses without kinks or sagging loops where oil and condensate can collect, and support them clear of hot surfaces
• Run the engine afterwards and check the trap and its joints for leaks, and that the crankcase is neither pressurising nor being pulled hard into vacuum
