🔌 Function

Provides the friction surface that acts against the brake drum to slow the assembly.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Braking effort falling off or requiring more travel
• Lining worn down to or below its minimum thickness
• Lining glazed or contaminated with oil
• Cracking or separation of the lining from its shoe
• Uneven wear across the lining face

🛠️ Service Notes

• Renew linings as a complete set across the axle — mixing new and part-worn linings gives uneven braking
• Oil contamination ruins a lining permanently, so trace and cure the leak before fitting new ones
• Kit 3097168 is the heavier alternative for the same 14 engines, so confirm which is needed
