🔧 Product Description

Genuine Volvo Penta 28 volt 60 amp alternator, weighing 6.346 kg and listed for seven applications across TWD and TAD series engines. It supersedes 3803572, against which a remanufactured alternator is also catalogued.

🚤 Compatibility

Typically suits:

  • Volvo Penta TWD1240VE
  • Volvo Penta TAD1241GE
  • Volvo Penta TAD1242GE
  • Volvo Penta TAD1240GE
  • Volvo Penta TAD1241VE
  • Volvo Penta TAD1242VE
  • Volvo Penta TAD1241-42VE
  • Engine Family: TWD, TAD

⚙️ Key Features

  • 28 V, 60 A output
  • 6.346 kg
  • Supersedes 3803572
  • Remanufactured version available

🔌 Function

Generates 28 volt electrical power to charge the batteries and supply the vessel's systems.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Batteries not holding charge
  • Charge warning with the engine running
  • Bearing whine rising with engine speed
  • Output voltage outside specification
  • Discoloured windings or a burning smell

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Confirm both the voltage and the current rating — a 12 V or lower-output installation needs a different alternator
  • A remanufactured unit is catalogued against the superseded number and is usually the cheaper route
  • Check belt tension and alignment on fitting; a slipping belt mimics alternator failure
