  • Fit so the handle has its full range of movement without fouling anything, and confirm it reaches both stops of whatever it operates
  • Tighten the retaining fasteners enough to be secure without crushing or cracking a moulded handle, using the figure in the workshop manual for your engine where one is given, and renew any locking fastener, clip or pin that was disturbed
  • Operate it several times after fitting and confirm the thing it controls actually follows it through the full travel
