Important fitment note:
• Earlier DT85 engines may use 32160-95502 before the catalogue serial-number break.
• Confirm the wire colours, connector, mounting pattern and spark-advance linkage.
🔌 Function
The timer-base sensors generate timed electrical pulses as the flywheel passes above the assembly.
The ignition unit uses these signals to fire the ignition coils, while movement of the timer base provides mechanical spark advance.
Common signs of failure:
• No spark on one or more cylinders
• Intermittent spark
• Engine loses spark when warm
• Difficult starting
• Misfire during acceleration
• Engine will not reach full timing advance
• Trigger resistance or output is outside specification
• Cracked or brittle wiring
• Timer base binds instead of rotating freely
Recommended checks before installation:
• Compare every wire and terminal
• Measure trigger resistance
• Test peak output where specified
• Inspect the timer-base support and retainers
• Check the flywheel key and magnets
• Test the CDI unit, stator and ignition coils
• Set the throttle and ignition linkage after installation
📦 Condition
• Genuine Suzuki Marine used part
• Pre-owned electrical component
• Wire ageing, marks and light oxidation may be present
• Electrical testing before installation is strongly recommended
• Supplied in protective or equivalent packaging
