Genuine BRP Evinrude Johnson Driveshaft Bearing Housing O-Ring - Part Number: 0354731


A genuine BRP large gearcase O-ring used to seal the driveshaft bearing housing in selected Evinrude and Johnson lower units.


The O-ring prevents gear lubricant from escaping around the bearing housing and helps stop water from entering the gearcase.

🔌 Function


The O-ring seals the outside diameter of the driveshaft bearing housing against the gearcase bore.


Common signs of failure:


• Gear lubricant leaks

• Gear oil becomes milky

• Water enters the lower unit

• Pressure or vacuum test fails

• O-ring is flattened

• Rubber becomes brittle

• Bearing-housing bore is corroded

• Internal gears and bearings show water damage


Installation considerations:


• Remove the bearing housing with the proper puller

• Inspect the housing and gearcase bore

• Clean the O-ring groove

• Lubricate the new O-ring with approved gearcase lubricant

• Do not twist or stretch it excessively

• Protect the O-ring from sharp housing edges

• Seat the bearing housing squarely

• Pressure- and vacuum-test the gearcase

• Refill with the specified gear lubricant
