Closes the top of the cylinder head over the valve gear and keeps the oil inside.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Oil weeping down the side of the head
  • Cover cracked or distorted
  • Sealing face damaged around a fixing
  • Crankcase pressure escaping at the joint
  • Oil pooling in the injector wells

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Renew the cover gasket and any sealing washers when refitting
  • Tighten evenly from the centre outwards - these covers distort easily and then leak
  • Check the breather is clear before blaming the cover for an oil leak
