Type C is the stainless steel Duoprop range for the classic Volvo Penta 280, 290 and DP Aquamatic sterndrives, and is the upgrade Volvo Penta offers for enhanced performance, strength and durability. Greater strength allows thinner blades, which give better acceleration and a higher top speed than a comparable aluminium propeller, and the stainless steel makes the propellers durable and highly resistant to cavitation, damage and corrosion. A shock-absorbing rubber bushing and galvanic isolation are built into the hub. This is the C2 rear propeller; the matching front propeller is 3587864, and the pair is also listed as set 3588222. Every set of Duoprop propellers is designed, tested and manufactured together, so the front and rear propellers of a dimension belong to each other.

🔌 Function

The aft half of a counter-rotating Duoprop set, working in the wash of the front propeller to add thrust and cancel its torque.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Vibration at speed, felt through the hull
• Blade edges chipped, bent or curled
• Loss of top speed, or the engine over-revving
• Corrosion pitting and a rough, chalky blade surface
• Fishing line or weed cut into the hub seals

• Front and rear must carry the same dimension: the C2 front propeller is 3587864
• The margins between the other Type C wheels are only tens of grams, so order by the C dimension rather than by weight
