• Volvo Penta DP-SMTD3

⚙️ Key Features

• Later production
• 18 g - twice the weight of the companion plate 3589522
• Supersedes 3852563 and 3852562, catalogued earlier as pressure plates
• 8 applications across DP and SX series

🔌 Function

Spreads the clamping load across the assembly and sets the height of the stack it forms part of.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Rattle, knock or play in the assembly the plate clamps
• Plate dished, cracked or polished bright on one face
• Fretting or bright rub marks on the parts either side
• Clamping load lost so the stack can move
• Metal debris in the assembly on strip-down

🛠️ Service Notes

• Plate 3589522 covers the same 8 DP and SX applications at 9 g, so this plate is the heavier of the pair - use that difference to identify what you removed
• 3852563 appears among the superseded numbers for both plates, so an order raised against 3852563 alone is ambiguous; measure the plate you took out
• Fit later-production parts as a set and check the assembled stack height
