Houses the thermostat and directs coolant either back through the engine or on to the cooler as the thermostat opens.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Coolant weeping from the housing joint or the gasket line
• Engine slow to reach temperature, or overheating once warm
• Corrosion eating the sealing face or the thermostat seat
• Housing cracked, often at a bolt boss
• Bolts seized, or the threads pulled out of the housing

🛠️ Service Notes

• Do not confuse this with thermostat housing 3589047, the 0.694 kg housing for 9 applications on D series engines - this one is more than four times the weight and is for the V series
• Fit a new thermostat, gasket and seal at the same time and check the mating face on the manifold or head
• Refill, vent the circuit, and recheck the level after the first warm-up
