Important fitment note

  • Not every Honda engine between 60HP and 250HP uses this sensor.
  • Confirm the original sensor number and connector.
  • Check whether the diagnostic fault refers to the crank sensor, cam sensor, pulser plate or wiring.

🔌 Function

The sensor generates a signal as the crankshaft pulser passes its sensing element.

The ECM uses this signal for ignition timing, fuel-injection timing, engine-speed calculation and starting control.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Engine cranks but will not start
  • Intermittent stalling
  • Loss of ignition or injector command
  • Tachometer signal is erratic
  • Crankshaft-position fault code
  • Engine stops when warm
  • Damaged connector or wiring
  • Metal contamination on the sensor tip
  • Incorrect sensor clearance

🛠️ Service Notes

Recommended checks before installation

  • Confirm the connector and wire length
  • Inspect the pulser plate
  • Check the sensor air gap
  • Test supply, ground and signal circuits
  • Inspect the harness for chafing
  • Clear fault codes and verify engine-speed data after installation
