3804098 Short Block Core | Genuine Volvo Penta Part

🔧 Product Description

Core deposit for an exchange shortblock, listed under the Engine group at 256.278 kg. It raises the refundable charge on the worn bottom end you send back and supplies no part on its own. Under Volvo Penta's core numbering it pairs with part 3801098. It sits less than 2 kg from core 3804099 at 254.464 kg, so the two cannot be told apart by weight and the exchange shortblock number is the only reliable guide.

⚙️ Key Features

• Refundable core deposit, not a fitted part
• Pairs with part 3801098
• 256.278 kg
• Under 2 kg apart from core 3804099, so order by number

🔌 Function

Carries the refundable core charge on an exchange shortblock; the shortblock it covers holds the crankshaft, pistons and bearings that turn combustion pressure into rotation.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• This is a deposit line and has nothing to fail in itself; the signs below are what normally condemns the shortblock being exchanged
• A knock low in the engine that deepens as the oil warms
• Oil pressure dropping away at idle, with the warning light flickering
• Bearing material or metal glitter in the oil filter
• Bores worn or scored and journals picked up when the block is stripped

🛠️ Service Notes

• The deposit is refunded when the old shortblock is returned; ordering this line on its own supplies no part
• Return the shortblock drained and with the bearing caps in place, since a dismantled core can reduce or void the refund
• Check the number stamped on the paperwork against 3804099 before booking the return, as the weights will not separate them

📦 Condition

• Refundable core deposit - not a physical part
