πŸ”§ Product Description

Core deposit for an injector, in the Fuel System group. It is the refundable charge raised against the old injector when the exchange unit is bought, and it comes back once the worn injector is returned. The line itself is an accounting entry rather than a part, so nothing ships against it on its own. Under Volvo Penta's core numbering the exchange unit it belongs to takes part number 3801759, which is the number to quote for the component itself. The other injector core running through this block is 3804736, and nothing published against them separates one from another, so order the number that matches the injector actually coming off. The unit injector cores 3804729 and 3804750 are a different item, combining pump and nozzle in one camshaft-driven body.

βš™οΈ Key Features

  • Core deposit line, not an injector you can fit
  • Belongs with the exchange unit, part number 3801759
  • Refunded when the old injector is returned
  • Not separable from the other injector cores here, so order by part number
  • Fuel System group

πŸ”Œ Function

As a line item it carries the refundable core charge on the exchange; the injector itself atomises the fuel delivered to it and sprays it into the combustion chamber in the pattern the engine was designed around.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • This is a deposit line and has nothing to fail in itself; the signs below are what normally condemns the injector being exchanged
  • Rough running or a knock from one cylinder, worst cold and settling as it warms
  • Black or white smoke at the exhaust, with starting harder than it used to be
  • Fuel smell around the engine, or a weep at the injector seat under pressure
  • On removal, a dribbling or streaking spray pattern, coked spray holes and a sooty ring where the seal has blown by

πŸ› οΈ Service Notes

  • The charge is refunded when the worn injector is returned, so keep the old unit and send it back rather than scrapping it
  • Ordering this number on its own supplies no part - it goes on the order beside the exchange unit, part number 3801759
  • Renew the seat washer and the seals on refitting and prove the fuel is clean first, since water or dirt in the tank will take the exchange unit out the same way

πŸ“¦ Condition

  • Refundable core deposit - not a physical part
