🔧 Product Description

Core deposit for a converter, in the Alternator, Charging, Electric Motor, Electric Drives group. It is the refundable charge raised against the old converter when the exchange unit is bought, and it comes back once the worn converter is returned. The line itself is an accounting entry rather than a part, so nothing ships against it on its own. Under Volvo Penta's core numbering the exchange unit it belongs to takes part number 3801985, which is the number to quote for the component itself. The other converter core in this block is 3804926, and nothing published against the two separates them, so order the number that matches the converter actually coming off. It belongs to the high-voltage side of a Volvo Penta electric or hybrid driveline, so removal of the old unit is work for a technician trained and authorised for high-voltage systems.

⚙️ Key Features

  • Core deposit line, not a converter you can fit
  • Belongs with the exchange unit, part number 3801985
  • Refunded when the old converter is returned
  • Not separable from converter core 3804926, so order by part number
  • Alternator, Charging, Electric Motor, Electric Drives group

🔌 Function

As a line item it carries the refundable core charge on the exchange; the converter itself steps the driveline's high-voltage supply down to the vessel's low-voltage system, keeping the service batteries charged and the electronics fed.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • This is a deposit line and has nothing to fail in itself; the signs below are what normally condemns the converter being exchanged
  • Service batteries going flat under way, or refusing to come up to charge
  • Charging or driveline fault warnings at the helm that return after the wiring has been checked
  • The unit running hot with its cooling working hard, or buzzing audibly at load
  • Instruments and low-voltage circuits dropping out intermittently

🛠️ Service Notes

  • The charge is refunded when the worn converter is returned, so keep the old unit and send it back rather than scrapping it
  • Ordering this number on its own supplies no part - it goes on the order beside the exchange unit, part number 3801985
  • This is a high-voltage driveline component - isolate and prove the system dead by the documented procedure before removing the old unit, and have the work done by a technician trained and authorised for high-voltage systems

📦 Condition

  • Refundable core deposit - not a physical part
