🔧 Product Description
Core deposit for a turbocharger, in the Inlet and Exhaust System group. It is the refundable charge raised against the old turbocharger when the exchange unit is bought, and it comes back once the worn turbocharger is returned. The line itself is an accounting entry rather than a part, so nothing ships against it on its own. Under Volvo Penta's core numbering the exchange unit it belongs to takes part number 3803920, which is the number to quote for the component itself. We list that number simply as a turbocharger, with no exchange or remanufactured wording against it. It is the only turbocharger core in this block, so there is nothing here to confuse it with. The pairing itself has been checked directly against Volvo Penta's own listing.
⚙️ Key Features
- Core deposit line, not a turbocharger you can fit
- Belongs with the exchange unit, part number 3803920
- Refunded when the old turbocharger is returned
- The only turbocharger core in this block
- No usable published weight on either side of the pair
- Pairing confirmed against Volvo Penta's listing
- Inlet and Exhaust System group
🔌 Function
As a line item it carries the refundable core charge on the exchange; the turbocharger itself drives a compressor off the exhaust stream to force more air into the engine than it would draw on its own.
⚠️ Common Signs of Failure
- This is a deposit line and has nothing to fail in itself; the signs below are what normally condemns the turbocharger being exchanged
- A siren-like whine or a rattle from the turbo that was not there before
- Boost down, with the engine sluggish and slow to pick up
- Blue smoke on start-up or over-run, and oil consumption climbing
- Shaft play felt at the compressor wheel, or blade tips found rubbed on the housing
🛠️ Service Notes
- The charge is refunded when the worn turbocharger is returned, so keep the old unit and send it back rather than scrapping it
- Ordering this number on its own supplies no part - it goes on the order beside the exchange unit, part number 3803920
- Establish what killed the old one before the exchange unit goes on, since a blocked oil feed, a strangled drain or debris drawn through the compressor will destroy the replacement just as fast, and change the oil and filter with it
📦 Condition
- Refundable core deposit - not a physical part
