  • Boost pressure low, with power down and black smoke
  • Hissing or whistling from the manifold under load
  • Soot or oil streaks at a joint face
  • Manifold cracked, or a flange face distorted
  • Oil pooling inside the manifold from turbo or breather carry-over

  • Renew the manifold gaskets and check the flange faces for flatness
  • Trace the source of any oil found inside before refitting, as it will only build up again
  • At 18 kg this needs support when offering it up to the head
