Gives a visible indication that coolant is actually circulating through the line it is fitted into.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Sight window clouded, stained or too dark to read
  • No movement shown even though the engine is clearly circulating coolant
  • Weeping or dripping from the body or its joints
  • Cracked body after a freeze or an over-tightened fitting
  • Internal vane or float stuck, so the indication never changes

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Renew the sealing washers at both connections while the indicator is out, and refill and bleed the circuit afterwards
  • Confirm the pump and thermostat before condemning the indicator, since a genuine loss of flow shows the same symptom
