🔌 Function

Holds the coolant in the engine until it reaches 75°C, then opens progressively to the cooler so the engine runs at a steady temperature instead of over- or under-cooling.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Engine slow to warm up or never reaching temperature
  • Overheating with the cooler side of the circuit staying cold
  • Temperature gauge swinging up and down in normal running
  • Cabin or circuit heat output erratic
  • Thermostat found seized open or shut, or corroded around the flange
