⚙️ Key Features

• 44.9 kg, a heavy freight item
• 6 applications on TAD series engines
• Engine group

🔌 Function

Drives the valve gear and injection timing, its lobes opening each valve in the right order and for the right duration.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Loss of power, heavy smoke or rough running from timing that has drifted
• Tapping or knocking from the valve gear
• Bright wear, pitting or spalling on the lobes and journals
• Metal debris in the oil or filter
• Bearing journals worn undersize, so oil pressure falls

🛠️ Service Notes

• Renew the bearings, followers and pushrods that ran on the old shaft, since worn mating parts will destroy a new camshaft
• Check the drive gear or chain and its tensioner while the front of the engine is open
• Handle and store the shaft supported at both ends, as a shaft this length bends easily under its own weight
