It brings together three earlier numbers, 872502, which was listed as a cover, 872503 as a pump element and 872582 as a housing, so what used to be built up from separate pieces is now supplied as one pump.

🔌 Function

Draws oil from the sump and delivers it under pressure to the bearings, galleries and drillings that depend on it.

  • Oil pressure low, or slow to come up from cold
  • Warning light or gauge dipping at idle when hot
  • Rattle or whine from the pump drive
  • Scored pump body or worn rotor faces on strip-down
  • Metal debris in the sump or filter

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Because it replaces the separate cover, element and housing, a repair using individual pieces is no longer the route, and the complete pump is what is supplied
  • Change the oil and filter with it, and check the relief valve and pick-up strainer
  • Prime the pump before starting so pressure comes up promptly
