🔌 Function

Carries hydraulic fluid under pressure between the steering pump and the ram or helm, keeping the circuit sealed while allowing movement.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Steering heavy, spongy or losing assistance
• Fluid level dropping, with an oily film in the bilge
• Hose weeping at a swage or end fitting
• Outer cover cracked, chafed or blistered
• Hose ballooning or gone hard and brittle

🛠️ Service Notes

• Steering is a life-safety system - renew a suspect hose rather than watching it, and never patch or reuse a chafed hose
• Bleed the system fully after fitting and check the whole circuit under lock, then recheck the fluid level once it has settled
• Hydraulic hose 3853825 is the Marine Propulsion hose in this run and is a different part
