🔌 Function

Closes the top of the cylinder head over the valve gear, keeping oil in and dirt out, and carrying the breather and filler fittings mounted on it.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Oil weeping down the side of the cylinder head
• Smell of burning oil where oil reaches the exhaust
• Distorted flange that will not seal even with a new gasket
• Gasket blown out or crushed unevenly on removal
• Oil mist in the engine compartment from a blocked breather

🛠️ Service Notes

• The starboard cover is 3854948 at 0.907 kg - side matters, and the two carry different fittings, so order by hand rather than by looks
