⚙️ Key Features

• 19.504 kg
• 26 applications
• Engine group
• Major rotating component

🔌 Function

Converts the up and down movement of the pistons into rotation, and carries that rotation out to the flywheel and drive.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Deep rumble or knock from low down in the engine, worst under load
• Low oil pressure, particularly when hot
• Journals scored, blued or visibly worn on strip-down
• Excessive fore and aft play at the crankshaft
• Bearing shells found wiped, with copper showing through

🛠️ Service Notes

• Have the crankshaft and the block checked by a machine shop before building - a new shaft fitted to worn bearing housings will not survive
• Renew the main and big end bearings, thrust washers and both crankshaft seals as a matter of course
• Timing gear casing 3855735 covers the same 26 applications, so it belongs to the same engine group and is worth inspecting while the engine is open

📦 Condition
