Follows the camshaft lobe and passes its lift up the pushrod to the rocker gear.

  • Tapping from the valve gear that will not adjust out
  • Noise worst when the engine is hot
  • Tappet base worn concave or pitted
  • Scuffing or transferred metal on the body
  • Fine debris in the oil filter
