Forms the close-clearance ring around the jet impeller, holding the tight running clearance the pump needs to build pressure and wearing in place of the housing.

  • Thrust and acceleration down for the same engine revs
  • Cavitation noise or vibration from the pump
  • Bore scored, grooved or worn bell-mouthed
  • Nicks and gouges from stones, shell or debris
  • A visible gap opening up at the impeller tips

  • Check the impeller tips at the same time — a new ring behind a worn impeller will not restore the clearance
  • Clearance is the whole point of the part: fit it square and check the impeller turns freely by hand
