🔌 Function

Takes the combustion pressure and passes it down the connecting rod, while its rings seal the bore and carry heat out to the cylinder wall.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Piston slap or a knock when cold that quietens as the engine warms
• Blue smoke and rising oil use
• Loss of compression on one cylinder
• Skirt scuffed, or the crown pitted or holed
• Ring grooves worn, or a ring broken or stuck in its groove

🛠️ Service Notes

• Piston 3857667 in this round is the standard size item for the V family at 0.726 kg, so the two are not alternatives — order by application
• Measure the bore and check the ring gaps before fitting, and never mix piston weights within one engine
• Find out why the old one failed before fitting a new one, as most piston damage is a symptom rather than a cause
