🔌 Function

Provides a fixed threaded post for the component to be located on and nutted down, so the joint can be broken repeatedly without wearing a thread in the casting.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Stud pulled, stretched or snapped
  • Thread stripped or galled where the nut runs
  • Stud turning in the casting instead of holding
  • Corrosion locking the nut solid on the stud

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Fit studs to the correct standing height and use a new locking nut rather than reusing the old one
  • If the casting thread has pulled it must be repaired before the new stud goes in, or it will pull again
