⚙️ Key Features

• Metric drain thread
• 3.651 kg
• 242 applications across the V family
• Supersedes 3852686 and 3859008
• Also supersedes Volvo part numbers 855826, 855897 and 856437

🔌 Function

Holds the engine's oil charge below the crankcase, lets it settle and cool, and provides the drain point and the reservoir the pump draws from.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Oil weeping or dripping from the sump flange or the drain plug
• Sump visibly dented or gouged after a grounding or lift
• Flange distorted where it has been overtightened
• Drain plug thread pulled or the boss cracked
• Corrosion pitting on the outside of the pan

🛠️ Service Notes

• The metric drain is the point of this number — a drain plug or extractor adaptor cut for the other thread form will not seal, so confirm the thread before ordering
• One of the numbers it replaces, 3852686, is also listed against hollow screw 3857674, so an old number alone can point at either part
• The other sump here is 3857779 at 5.466 kg with no published applications, so the two are not alternatives
