Genuine Volvo Penta / OMC Cobra V6-V8 Engine Coupler - Part Number: 3858437


A genuine used rubber-isolated engine coupler for selected GM V6 and V8 Volvo Penta SX and OMC Cobra sterndrive engines.


The coupler bolts to the flywheel and transfers torque through its internally splined centre hub to the sterndrive input shaft. It replaces several earlier OMC and Volvo coupling references and has extensive aftermarket coverage.

🔌 Function


The coupler transfers flywheel rotation to the sterndrive input shaft while its bonded rubber section absorbs torsional shock and driveline vibration.


Common signs of failure:


• Engine runs but the sterndrive does not turn

• Burning-rubber smell

• Rubber debris inside the flywheel housing

• Stripped or worn input-shaft splines

• Coupler hub spins inside the rubber

• Knocking from the rear of the engine

• Repeated failure caused by poor engine alignment
