3858735 Engine Control Module | Genuine Volvo Penta Part

🔧 Product Description

Genuine Volvo Penta engine control module from the Ignition and Control Systems group, weighing 0.587 kg and listed for 17 applications. It supersedes part number 3855763, and the earlier naming behind that number covers both a control unit and a base engine, so the scope of the old number was far broader than a module - check carefully before treating it as a like-for-like swap.

⚙️ Key Features

• 0.587 kg
• Listed for 17 applications
• Supersedes 3855763, whose earlier naming included a base engine
• From the Ignition and Control Systems group

🔌 Function

Runs the engine's electronic management, reading the sensors and driving the ignition and fuelling outputs to the values held in its programme.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Engine will not start, or stops without warning
• Warning lamps lit with stored faults that keep coming back
• Running faults that change when the harness is moved
• Corrosion or water inside the module connector
• Module casing water-stained, swollen or cracked

🛠️ Service Notes

• One of the names behind the superseded number was a base engine, so confirm exactly what is being ordered rather than assuming a straight module swap
• Control modules are matched to the engine and may need programming, so confirm the engine build first
• Check battery voltage, earths and connectors before condemning the module
