🔌 Function

Cranks the engine over fast enough for it to fire, then disengages once it runs.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• A single click from the solenoid and nothing turning
• Slow, laboured cranking even with a good battery
• Grinding or whirring as the pinion fails to mesh or stay engaged
• Starter staying engaged after the engine fires
• Burnt smell or heat marks at the starter body after repeated attempts

🛠️ Service Notes

• One of the numbers this replaces was listed as a remanufactured starter, so confirm with us whether this number is supplied new or on exchange before ordering
• Check battery condition, main earth strap and the heavy cable connections first - voltage drop on cranking imitates a failed starter closely
• Inspect the flywheel ring gear teeth while the starter is out, since damaged teeth will wreck a new pinion
