  • Component working loose on its mounting
  • Stud pulled or its thread stretched
  • Stud snapped off in the casting
  • Thread corroded so the nut seizes on it
  • Smell of fuel from a joint that is no longer clamped evenly

  • Wind the stud in to the depth given in the workshop manual and check it is not bottoming
  • Renew rather than reuse a stud whose thread is corroded or stretched
  • Depressurise the fuel system before working on the joint
