Absorbs crankshaft torsional vibration and carries the drive belt pulley face at the front of the engine.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Rubber ring perished, cracked or visibly extruded between the hub and outer ring
• Outer ring having crept round so the timing mark no longer lines up
• Vibration or a low rumble that changes with engine speed
• Belts running off line or squealing from a wobbling pulley face
• Score marks or a groove worn where the front seal rides

🛠️ Service Notes

• A damper with a crept or split rubber ring gives false timing marks and can shed the outer ring — replace rather than re-time around it
• Renew front seal 3862262 while the damper is off, and check the seal running surface on the new damper hub
• Use the correct puller and installer rather than levering or hammering the damper on
