🔌 Function

Shields nearby components and surfaces from radiated exhaust heat.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Discoloured, hardened or scorched hoses and looms nearby
  • Shield rattling or buzzing at certain engine speeds
  • Cracks or tears around the fixing holes
  • Shield distorted so it now touches the exhaust

🛠️ Service Notes

  • A missing or distorted heat shield lets exhaust heat reach hoses and wiring, so refit it properly rather than leaving it off
  • Renew the fixings if they are corroded, and check the shield stands clear of the exhaust all round
