Type FH is the stainless steel Duoprop range for Aquamatic DPS-B sterndrives, the drives with helical (spiral) propeller-shaft splines. Greater strength allows thinner blades, which give better acceleration and a higher top speed than a comparable aluminium propeller, while the high strength stainless steel adds excellent durability and corrosion resistance. A shock-absorbing rubber bushing and galvanic isolation make it a matched fit for the DPS drive. This is the FH6 front propeller; the matching rear propeller is 3885855, and the pair is also listed as set 3885842. Every set of Duoprop propellers is designed, tested and manufactured together, so the front and rear propellers of a dimension belong to each other.

🔌 Function

Forms the forward half of a Duoprop counter-rotating pair, taking the larger share of the thrust and handing a straightened flow back to the rear propeller.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Vibration that builds with engine speed and settles when throttled back
• Blades bent, chipped or with material torn from the tips
• Slow to plane and down on top speed with normal revs
• Cavitation erosion showing as grey pitted patches behind the leading edges
• Engine over-revving against no useful increase in boat speed

• The installation hardware for the Type D, I, IH, F and FH propellers is front propeller nut 3851569 and rear propeller nut 21631162
• Check the spline form before ordering - Type FH is for the helical-spline DPS-B and DPS-D drives, and a straight-spline drive needs the Type F propeller of the same size
• Volvo Penta specifies type F or FH stainless steel propellers for 6-cylinder diesel engines, engines exceeding 240 hp, and boats capable of speeds above 38 knots (45 mph).
• The straight-spline DPS and DPS-A drives take Type F propellers instead. A Type FH propeller will not fit a straight-spline drive.
