Takes the drive out of the transmission and passes it to the propeller shaft coupling.

  • Rumbling or growling from the back of the transmission
  • Oil leaking past the output shaft seal
  • Journals, splines or flange faces worn, scored or stepped on strip-down
  • Coupling bolts working loose or the flange running out of true

  • Renew the output shaft seal and its bearings while the shaft is out, and check the coupling flange for run-out
  • At over 19 kg allow for two-person handling and carriage costs
  • Recheck shaft alignment at the coupling after fitting, as misalignment is what wears these shafts
