🔧 Product Description

Genuine Volvo Penta exhaust pipe from the Inlet and Exhaust System group, weighing 5.851 kg. It supersedes part number 3817489, which was catalogued earlier as an exhaust pipe kit. No engine fitment list is published against the current number.

⚙️ Key Features

  • Inlet and Exhaust System group
  • 5.851 kg
  • Supersedes 3817489, previously catalogued as an exhaust pipe kit

🔌 Function

Carries exhaust gas away from the engine along a fixed route, holding the joint seals at each end.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Black sooty streaking or a puffing sound at a joint
  • Exhaust smell or fumes in the engine compartment
  • Pipe blistered, pinholed or rusted through
  • Flange faces warped so the gasket will not seal
  • Cracks at a weld or at a tight bend

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Exhaust pipe 40005686 is only 45 grams heavier and supersedes 3817487, so the two are separated by their superseded numbers and not by weight
  • Treat any exhaust leak in an enclosed space as a carbon monoxide risk and prove the joints before closing up
  • Fit new flange gaskets and fasteners on assembly
