🔧 Product Description

Genuine Volvo Penta sound absorbent panel, non-adhesive, 500 x 1000 mm and 30 mm thick, weighing 1.700 kg. The panels are made of recycled polyurethane foam at a density of 100 kg per cubic metre, faced with an oil-resistant aluminium foil that can be wiped clean, and treated with a fire-resistant formula that withstands up to 200 degrees C. They are approved for installation in boats CE marked to EU Directive 2013/53/EU. It supersedes part number 61050213, which was catalogued earlier as insulation, and is the middle thickness of the non-adhesive set between the 20 mm 41103800 and the 50 mm 41103802.

🔌 Function

Absorbs airborne engine noise inside the engine space so less of it reaches the accommodation.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Engine noise noticeably louder in the accommodation than it used to be
• Panel sagging away from the bulkhead
• Facing torn, oil-soaked or crumbling
• Foam compressed flat and no longer springy
• Loose fragments of foam collecting in the bilge

🛠️ Service Notes

• Check you have the depth for 30 mm before ordering - 41103800 is the 20 mm and 41103802 the 50 mm version of the same sheet
• This version has no adhesive backing, so allow for mechanical fixings or insulation hangers
• Cut to shape with a sharp knife, keep the joins tight and cover them with foil tape so noise cannot leak and water cannot get into the foam
• Fit the sheets so the joins are as tight as possible and cover them with foil tape, otherwise noise leaks through and water can be absorbed by the material
• Sound insulation hangers can be used for convenient mounting
• Choose the panel thickness against the engine's own noise characteristics across the 100-8000 Hz range; sound absorption is rated to DIN 52215
