⚙️ Key Features

• 15.37 kg, a heavy casting
• 31 applications across the TWD, TID, TD and TAD series
• Engine group

🔌 Function

Encloses the timing gear train at the front of the engine, carrying its shaft supports and sealing the oil in.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Oil leaking from the front of the engine along the casing joint
• Casing cracked, usually at a mounting boss or bolt hole
• Sealing face distorted or corroded
• Bearing or seal bores in the casing worn oversize
• Front seal repeatedly failing because its housing is worn

🛠️ Service Notes

• Renew the front seal and all joint gaskets while the casing is off, as access afterwards is poor
• Check bore and face condition before reassembly, and tighten in the manual's sequence so the casting is not strained
• Plan for two people or lifting help, as the casting is heavy and awkward in place
