  • Oil leaking from the housing joints or from a crack in the casting
  • Oil level falling with no other leak found
  • Sealing faces pitted, eroded or distorted
  • Cracking around a mounting boss
  • Internal passages sludged or partly blocked

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Renew every gasket and sealing ring on the housing joints while it is off
  • Clean the internal passages and check for sludge before refitting - a blocked return path is often what led to the strip-down
