Carries the oil filter and routes full-flow oil through it before the oil reaches the engine galleries.

  • Oil leak from the housing joint or from the filter seat
  • Filter seat face damaged so the element will not seal
  • Cracks in the casting or a pulled thread on the centre stud
  • Oil pressure low because the bypass or relief passage in the housing is not sealing
  • Sludge packed in the housing after long service intervals
