🔌 Function

The impeller rotates inside the lower-unit water pump housing to draw cooling water through the gearcase and push it into the engine cooling system. Correct impeller fitment is essential for maintaining water pressure, preventing overheating and protecting the engine during idle and under load.

Common signs of failure:

• Weak or inconsistent tell-tale water stream

• Engine overheating alarm

• Overheating at idle or low speed

• Cracked, hardened or missing impeller vanes

• Reduced cooling-water pressure
