🔌 Function
The impeller rotates inside the lower-unit water pump housing to draw cooling water through the gearcase and push it into the engine cooling passages. Correct impeller size is important on these smaller outboards because the 47-89980 and 47-89981 applications use different shaft/bore configurations.
Common signs of failure:
• Weak or inconsistent tell-tale water stream
• Engine overheating at idle or low speed
• Cracked, stiff or missing impeller vanes
• Reduced cooling-water pressure after storage
• Pump not priming correctly
• Rubber fragments found in the cooling system
📦 Condition
• Genuine Quicksilver part
• Brand new
• Supplied in original or equivalent packaging
