🔧 Product Description
Genuine Mercury Black Max 11 1/4 x 10 Aluminium Propeller - Part Number: 48-73132A4 / 48-73132A45
A genuine used Mercury Black Max three-blade right-hand aluminium propeller for selected Mercury and Mariner 25HP-60HP outboards with the 13-spline standard gearcase.
The low 10-inch pitch and relatively large blade area provide strong acceleration and load carrying for pontoons, workboats and heavily loaded hulls. Earlier A4 rubber-hub propellers use different hardware from the later Flo-Torq Reflex A45 version.
⚙️ Key Features
- Genuine Mercury / Quicksilver Black Max propeller
- 11 1/4-inch diameter x 10-inch pitch
- Three-blade aluminium construction
- Right-hand rotation with 13-tooth shaft application
- Later A45 version uses the Flo-Torq Reflex hub system
🚤 Compatibility
Commonly used on
- Mercury and Mariner 25HP-60HP outboards with the 13-tooth standard gearcase
- Applications requiring a low-pitch, high-load aluminium propeller
Typically suits
- Engine models:
- Mercury / Mariner 25HP BigFoot or Command Thrust four-stroke
- Mercury / Mariner 30HP two-stroke
- Mercury / Mariner 30HP BigFoot or Command Thrust - 2010 onward

- Mercury / Mariner 30HP-40HP SeaPro / Marathon
- Mercury / Mariner 40HP, 45HP, 50HP, 55HP and 60HP two-stroke and four-stroke standard gearcase - 1977 onward
- Mercury / Mariner 55HP SeaPro / Marathon
- Excludes 40HP-60HP BigFoot / Command Thrust models using the larger 15-spline gearcase
- HP Range: 25HP - 60HP
- Engine Type: Mercury / Mariner two-stroke and four-stroke outboard with 13-spline standard gearcase
- Year Range: Approximately 1977 onward, model and gearcase controlled
🔌 Function
The propeller converts engine torque into thrust. Its 10-inch pitch helps the engine accelerate a heavy load and reach the recommended wide-open-throttle RPM where a higher-pitch propeller would overload the engine.
⚠️ Common Signs of Failure
- Blades are bent, chipped, cracked or out of track
- The rubber hub slips and engine RPM rises without matching boat speed
- Propeller vibration increases with engine speed
- Cavitation, ventilation or poor acceleration develops after impact damage
- Hub splines, thrust faces or retaining surfaces are worn or corroded
