🔌 Function

Provides the hardened ring the valve closes against, sealing the combustion chamber and carrying heat out of the valve head into the cylinder head.

  • Valve recession, with clearances closing up between services
  • Seat pocketed, cracked or burnt on inspection
  • Rough idle or misfire that clears as the engine gets hot
  • Seat found loose or sunk in the head

🛠️ Service Notes

  • The Std D marking is the size designation - a head that has already been recut may need a different size, so measure before ordering
  • Seats must be fitted and cut by a machine shop, then the valve lapped and clearances reset
  • Check the valve and guide for wear at the same time; a worn guide will destroy a new seat
