Aftermarket MerCruiser 3.7L and GM-based marine starter motor - Part Number: 50-97499A2

An ignition-protected 12-volt marine starter used on MerCruiser 3.7L/224ci inline-four engines and selected GM-based inboard applications sharing the same nine-tooth rear-entry starter configuration. The title's Indmar GM wording covers only part of the aftermarket cross-application; the principal Mercury fitment is the MerCruiser 165/170/180/190/470/485/488 3.7L family.

The original direct-drive unit is discontinued. Current aftermarket replacements may use a smaller permanent-magnet gear-reduction body while retaining the required mounting, rotation and pinion engagement.
