🔌 Function

Closes the bottom of the engine and holds the oil charge, letting the oil drain back and settle where the pick-up can draw it.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Oil dripping from the pan flange or from the drain plug
• Pan face distorted or the flange pulled at a fastener
• Impact damage, cracking or a weeping repair
• Corrosion pitting along the lower edge where water has sat
• Drain plug thread pulled, so the plug will not seal

🛠️ Service Notes

• At almost 30 kg this is a heavy freight item - plan the handling and support it properly on removal and refitting
• Fit a new gasket or sealant bead as the engine specifies, clean the block face fully, and tighten in sequence to the correct torque
• Renew the drain plug sealing washer and check the pick-up and strainer while the pan is off
